Johnson Hall–Deseret
Mercantile Building
In 1890, contractor and mason James Jensen built the Deseret Mercantile Building. In 1898 the Johnson Hall Building was added.
This establishment has historical associations with Grantsville’s history. In the past, it was known as the Grantsville Drugstore, the Grantsville Post Office and the Grantsville Deseret Bank.
The Johnson Hall–Deseret Mercantile Building is also architecturally significant for its unity of design and rich detail in the masonry. It is an excellent example of Victorian Eclectic design in a turn-of-the-century commercial neighborhood. The buildings are included in the National Register of Historic Places (2006).
